Teso Development Trust (TDT) has been actively working for more than a quarter of a century to enhance the lives of 1.8million people in the Teso region of Uganda through the provision of relief, education, water and health projects..
During the past 25 years the Teso region, in North-East Uganda, has experienced insurgency and civil conflict, incursions from militia and successive waves of drought and flooding. This has resulted in the destruction of infrastructure and an unstable supply of fresh water and food. TDT, through our UK and Teso partners, has been providing resources which help the Iteso people rebuild and develop their land. This has focussed on relief, water, health, community finance, education and Christian mission. However, the task is far from complete. There are still significant challenges in providing stability, sustainable food supplies, clean water, a robust health system and quality education for all.
Would you consider joining our community of partners in bringing further development, relief and Christian mission to Teso?
Our work is firmly based on a spirit of partnership: responding to needs highlighted by local organisations, charities and churches, and resourcing them to develop sustainable projects on the ground. We choose to partner primarily with local churches in Teso because we believe they are strategically placed to understand the local needs, and have the management and labour resources to see development projects implemented, supervised and sustained. We can only provide these resources, professional expertise and encouragement to our friends in Uganda because of the generosity of our partner churches, organisations and individuals in the UK. Our UK based partners willingly give professional skills (e.g. doctors visiting health projects), finance and encouragement through personal communication with our Teso partners and in prayer.
We are utterly convinced that this ethos of partnership is the best way to meet the needs. As the Bible says: “A three stand rope is not easily broken”. Where a UK partner connects with a Teso partner, with Christ being central, there is a very strong bond that is not easily broken. As the saying goes: we can do more together than apart. This is why TDT is always looking to develop new partnerships between UK churches, organisations and individuals, and our partners in Teso.
