Emergency Relief Update

13th November 2020 by Carmel Dipple in Uncategorised

In August 2020 TDT sent £8800 out to our partners in Uganda as relief support to help families struggling as a result of the coronavirus lockdown. A variety of crop seeds including; maize, beans, soya beans, sesame and sorghum, and in some communities posho flour, were distributed to the most vulnerable households in communities in Soroti and Kumi Districts.

In November 2020 a further £2500 was sent for relief support to purchase seeds for a further group in Kumi.

1,050 beneficiaries were selected from the 7 archdeaconries of Usuk in Katakwi, Amuria, Kapelebyong, Kalaki, Kaberamaido, Kasilo and Serere to receive posho flour.

We discovered that by using the local council and church structures, it was easy to mobilise people and get the most deserving since they know these households better.
