Relief & Development

The basic necessities of life (food, water and shelter) are never guaranteed in Teso. Natural disasters such as flooding and drought occur regularly, resulting in failed crops and dried up water supplies. Insurgency and war in the recent history of Teso have made the problems worse.

The region is currently enjoying more political stability and much work is being done to protect food and water supplies. However, the Iteso people are only ever one season away from acute hunger and thirst. TDT is one of the major partners in the area who can mobilise relief at very short notice, to provide emergency aid to those most in need.

However, long-term solutions are also needed that will enable the Iteso people to develop their land and economy This will increase their reliance to natural disasters and provide the dignity of being less reliant on out-side help.  TDT is passionate about such development work and we are resourcing sustainable water sources, food security projects and community finance / enterprise projects.

The Teso region is full of great potential. The people are resourceful and are committed to building a better future. TDT is privileged to be able to partner with the Iteso people to help them in this quest.
